| | | | The October event will feature Unreal Tournament 3 as the primary competition of the night. Also, I would imagine Team Fortress 2 will cop a bit of a flogging at the LAN, so I'd recommend having it updated Friday night around midnight ready for the LAN. It's an awesome game!
The second comp will be decided on the night, based on popular demand.
There will not be a sausage sizzle this LAN. The next LAN will have one again, though. As usual, there is plenty of eateries in the surrounding area, all within 5 minutes walking distance, so you should be able to find something suitable.
Some really good games have been released recently, so it should be one of the more interesting events in recent times. See you there!
| | | | Thank you to everyone who attended AWL this weekend, especially to those who helped with packup. In particular Lord Zebu, Dragoon, and Pegasus.
Numbers were up again this event, with a few new faces, which is good to see. The sausage sizzle and prize draw were obviously a success. Congratulations to those who won the door prizes, $100 BITS N PCS voucher, $50 BITS N PCS voucher, and an AWL shirt. And congratulations also to the winners of the UT2004 & COD: Merciless mod comp winners.
Please remember that we still have AWL shirts for sale at $26 & $31 respective of size, thanks to T-shirt World in Albury. Get them while you still can.
Hope you all enjoyed yourselves.
| | | | The September event is due to fall on Saturday the 8th of September.
This is the big 3 "monthly" event. There'll be a sausage sizzle and the 3 event prize draw. You must be present at the time of the draw to win. You will receive tickets in the draw from the last 3 events you attended.
Hope to see you there. | | | | |
| | | | Just a quick update about this event, to be held this weekend (11th August).
In memory of Bob, we will be holding the Halo Bob Comp at this event.
Additionally, there will be no pizza offered due to lack of participant interest over the last few months, and no sausage sizzle this time. We will be aiming here-forth to hold a sausage sizzle every three events to coincide with the major 3 "evently" prize draws, set to occur in September. Sorry, but you'll have to arrange your own dinner this time. But nearby are 2 pizza shops (including Eagle Boys who have supported us well over the years), a Subway, a noodle place, 2 bakery's, a Charcoal Chicken, KFC, and many others I'm probably missing. As well as Coles & Safeway.
Congratulations to Fed, the winner of last months door prize draw, who will receive a $25 gift voucher for use at BITS N PCS.
Hope to see you there. | | | | |
| | | | AWL will be holding a RETRO LAN with a sausage sizzle and door prize for our next event. Hopefully that'll liven up the show a bit, and bring back some old memories from the early days of lanning.
Where: The usual place - Civic Centre Wodonga.
When: Saturday 14th July 2007, from 1pm until 2am.
Cost: $10. Includes a ticket in the door prize (voucher from Bits n PC's).
Pizza: Sadly, due to lacking interest, we will no longer be offering pizza. However, the pizza shop (Eagle Boys) is in close walking distance from the hall, as well as Subway, a Noodle shop, and a Coles supermarket (for those out of town).
Food: We will instead be offering a sausage sizzle this event at around 6:30pm.
Games: Whatever you like, but it's a good opportunity to crack out some older games if you like, and we encourage doing so this event. :)
Comps: Duke Nukem 3D, Quake (Team Fortress hopefully), & Warcraft 2. In-case the age of some of these games is a showstopper, we'll fall back on Unreal Tournament, and Starcraft.
All the usual's apply. Bring a working PC, headphones (NO SPEAKERS), and a power board/double adaptor (as you have only one power point). We'll fix network problems, but your PC problems are your own.
It should be one of the more lively AWL's in recent history, so I hope to see you there.
FAQ:
Can I play new games? Sure can, we've never told anyone what to play, but we encourage you to have some fun with some of the older games this time. The comps will all be retro.
What's with the door prize? AWL will be reintroducing the door prize system from the past. Every LAN we will draw one door prize at a time of our choosing throughout the event, and everyone present will have precisely one ticket in this draw (except admins, who are ineligible). Every 3 months we'll hold a larger door prize event, where 3 door prizes will be given away. You will receive one ticket in this draw for every event you attended in the last 3 months (2 months prior and the month including the draw event), as well as additional tickets for participating in, and further more for winning, competitions over the 3 months. YOU MUST BE PRESENT DURING THE DRAW to be eligible for the prize. Only one prize per person, per event. This ensures everyone has a chance at winning the prizes, not only those who are great players.
When will the next major draw be?At the September event.
